• Founding and Heritage:

1. • Barboursville Vineyards was established in 1976 by Gianni Zonin, an highly sought after Italian winemaker from the Veneto region. The vineyard stands as a testament to his family’s rich viticultural lineage dating back to 1821. This estate is part of the Zonin Group, a renowned collection of wineries based in Italy. Barboursville Winery is the only wine-making business in the United States making it very unique.

• The Estate:

1. • This one of a kind vineyard is situated on a large 900-acre property, once part of an 18th-century Virginia plantation. Within this humongous property, 162 acres are dedicated to just vine cultivation alone. Additionally, the estate’s historic core includes a magnificent mansion, picturesque gardens, and rolling hills adorned with you guessed it, grapevines. With all this history, you won’t be surprised to hear that it lays between James Madison’s Montpelier and Thomas Jefferson’s Monticello.

• Wine to Try: Octagon:

  

1. • Barboursville’s crowning jewel is the Octagon, a red wine that has garnered acclaim as one of Virginia’s most honored. Created with meticulous care, Octagon blends Bordeaux-style varietals to create a symphony of flavors. Try it in their large and airy tasting room.

Their knowledgeable staff will guide you through the nuances of each vintage.The winery also boasts an award-winning (and quite delicious) restaurant, offering delightful pairings of food and wine. • Wedding Venue and More

1. • Barboursville can accommodate events of all sizes be it a wedding, corporate event, or family get together. From intimate gatherings of 20 guests to larger parties of up to 300 guests you’ll have no problem hosting. Need somewhere to stay, no problem there either, there are luxury accommodations on the grounds!  You can stay at the Cottages or the 1804 Inn before or after your wedding or for a special occasion.
